Bill and Bobbie Cubbage

Bill is from Sumter, SC. After graduating from Newberry College in 1982, he came to Hilton Head Island for the summer and never left. He sold wine for Columbia Distributing and Ben Arnold Company and later was hired by the local Budweiser house Pearlstine Distributors, who also employed Bobbie Lanier, soon to be Bobbie Cubbage. Bobbie and Bill were competitors in the wine business for 1 ½ years before getting together, and later marrying. They later worked together at Pearlstine for almost 10 years, until Pearlstine’s sold to Southern Wine and Spirits. Bill did not want to work for a big company so he purchased a little restaurant called Flamingo Café and remodeled it into today’s 211 Park. Their love for fine wines made them the first restaurant on the Island to really embrace a progressive wine program. That forward thinking continues today.
